Dapperbuurt's very own garden
(for information press spacebar)

Dapperbuurt’s Very Own Garden is a project focused on creating a unique semi-public garden within the neighbourhood to foster community interaction and identity. The garden, with its floral content directly linked to the demographic and cultural make-up of the Dapperbuurt, becomes the unique body of identity of the neighbourhood. The garden is designed to break the flat skyline of the Dapperbuurt, offering a point of reference and identity. Coupled with research on the many benefits of having green spaces in an urban context, the garden positions itself to be a source of future wellbeing for the neighbourhood. The maintenance of the semi-public garden in a greenhouse allows the garden to be evergreen even during winter, providing a haven of warmth and colours during winter. The Dapperbuurt is a neighbourhood made up of people with diverse cultural background. “Dapperbuurt’s Very Own Garden” celebrates this diversity by translating the multicultural aspect into a multi-climatic garden.
Instead of constructing another building, the project suggests the conversion of an existing housing block into a garden. That will, over time, improve the wellbeing of the neighbourhood, and eventually, the overall value of the area.
